Washington Medical Marijuana — Qualifying Patient

Washington Medical Marijuana — Qualifying Patient

A “qualifying patient” for the purposes of Washington's medical marijuana law is defined as a person who:

  • Is a resident of Washington,
  • Is a patient of a health care professional licensed in Washington,
  • Has been diagnosed by that health care professional as having a terminal or debilitating medical condition, and
  • Has been advised that medical marijuana may provide a benefit to him. (Recommendations must be written on tamper-resistant paper.)

See RCW 69.51A.010(2) and (4).

A qualifying patient may only possess the allowed amount of marijuana.
